Discrimination in the animal kingdom
Praying mantises are known to devour their mates after having enjoyed the poor males’ sexual prowess [1].This behavior is not unique in nature: female spiders are also known to feast on their sexual partners especially when the males are smaller than the female [2] and now scientists have discovered a similar behavior in female rattlesnakes [3] shortly after giving birth, apparently out of a need to replenish her energy and become reproductive again.
Are the males of the animal kingdom always the victims of their mates? Not quite, according to research published in the very learned American Naturalist [4],certain male fishes become cannibals when they suspect they have been cuckolded and the off springs are not really theirs.
Assuredly, no one could find parallels between the human and animal behaviors!

Les requins, les ourlets et les récessions
Depuis les années 1920,une corrélation entre la hauteur de l’ourlet des jupes de ces dames et la bourse a été établie. On se souviendra des ourlets remontant au dessus du genoux dans les années folles et de la montée en flèche de la bourse coïncidant avec l’introduction de la mini-jupe dans les années 60 et,à l’inverse des ourlets atteignant la cheville durant les périodes de baisses boursières des années 30 et 40.
Aujourd’hui,selon le professeur Burgess de l’Université de Floride quand diminuent les attaques des requins contre les humains ,l’activité économique diminue aussi.Pour en savoir plus consultez le lien:

De la discrimination dans le cannibalisme animal
Le cas de la mante religieuse qui dévore son partenaire après avoir sollicité les faveurs du mâle est connu de tous [1]Ce cas n’est cependant pas isolé: outre les araignées qui, elles aussi, sont connues pour dévorer leurs partenaires sexuels lorsqu’ils sont plus petits qu’elles [2],les chercheurs viennent d’établir que les crotales femelles ont aussi le même comportement, au motif selon ces chercheurs, que les femelles après avoir donné naissance, ont besoin d’énergie[3].
Les mâles du monde animal sont ils ainsi toujours les victimes de leurs femelles? Pas tout à fait puisque selon le compte rendu de recherches publié dans l’American Naturalist certain poissons mâles ont recours au cannibalisme lorsqu’ils ne sont pas sûrs de la paternité de leur progéniture[4].
Il ne viendrait à l’idée de personne de voir dans certains comportements humains des parallèles avec ceux rencontrés dans le monde animal.

Sharks, hemlines and the economy
According to traditional hemline theory ,as hemlines go up so does the market-remember the Roaring Twenties when the flappers’ skirts got noticeably shorter, or the Swinging Sixties heralding the miniskirt and a long up cycle in the market ,and as hemlines go down so does the market -as we witnessed in the 30s and 40s.
